Welcome from the Interim director
Welcome to The Cultural Center and Spiritual Life at DU!
We are delighted that you are interested in our school and the students who breathe life into its mission and vision. The Cultural Center is committed to the mission to create an environment where students of color, students of marginalized faiths and LGBTQ+ students can critically engage their historical legacies, while enhancing their educational, intellectual and personal/professional interests as they relate to race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, socioeconomic, and cultural sensibilities; and also while providing a physical safe haven for respite and dialogue as they navigate their journey at the University of Denver.

Today, we accept this legacy as we live in a world of religious pluralism, an ever-expanding understanding of the nature of the diversities in our midst, marvelous and challenging cultural differences and more. These are exciting and perplexing times to join us in the exploration of transformation and scholarship development. We encourage students to ask questions, seek wisdom, embrace academic rigor, explore the depths of the ethical and spiritual, and hope to offer thoughtful answers to the predicaments of our day. We are here to support you as you discern the next steps of your journey. Please do not hesitate to be in touch if you have any questions.

Dealing with the current cancellation of in person activities on our campus, and the potential for more serious restrictions in the future, we have been trying to consider how we can continue supporting our students through what is surely a trying and unsettling time.
We are taking the approach that no matter the decision of our university to suspend in person services or more, we will continue being innovative in finding approaches to serve our students during a time they may need us more than ever.
As we continue to face this time in the spirit of community health and wellness, practice the following precautions:
- Fiercely protect your health and wellness and the health and wellness of others by honoring each other's decisions regarding self-love and care.
- Give yourself permission and others acceptance to choose absence if sick, not feeling well or simply as a precaution.
- If necessary, for your health and wellness, give yourself permission and others acceptance to make different social distancing decisions.
- Wash your hands with soaps or cleansers several times a day. (at least 20 seconds)
- Stay Informed. Don't Panic. Choose Self & Community Love & Care.
As we all continue to move forward during these uncertain times, feel free to reach out to the Cultural Center staff for support or to ask questions.
